Barely Political Indeed

The second (most intriguing) reason why anyone would vote for Barack Obama is Amber Lee Ettinger, otherwise known all over the web as Obama Girl.

"In the Land of YouTube. Obama Girl is Queen"

Shot to fame by an eponymous viral video depicting a young woman singing seductively about her love for Barack Obama, since June 2007, it has garnered an impressive 9,342,217+ views on YouTube. After taking on the internet by storm, it has been regularly featured on the news and other television shows. Furthermore the success and popularity of the original video spawned numerous sequels, has been the frequent subject of parodies, and made the “Candidate Girl” a certified phenomena.

I've got a crush on Obama Girl

Starting out as a model and attending the Fashion Institute of Technology at New York City, Her appearance on the Howard Stern show brought her into the

attention of Leah Kaufman (who did the actual singing in the video, i.e. Obama girl lip-synched the part) and was later signed on to perform.

Though, at its best, it is gimmickry, there is no denying that in some small way, it has sparked interest in the presidential nominations campaign, if for no other reason than reaching out further into the larger male demographics. Young men and old who would perhaps, prefer to drool over a woman onscreen rather than follow senators Clinton and Obama duke it out on a dull protracted campaign.

I'm with ya

Holy Cow!

Cownorth

If ever you find yourself lost and directionally challenged, you might want to ask the nearby cow.

A recent study by Dr Sabine Begall and colleagues from the University of Duisburg-Essen, discovered that cattle from Britain, Ireland, India, and USA, tended to face north and align themselves with the North-South Axis. Ruling out factors such as wind direction and sunlight due to the huge variations (in the data, obtained from Google Earth images), the study concludes that the magnetic field is the only common and most likely factor to affect the direction cattles are facing.

It is well known that certain animals use the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate, especially those species that tend to migrate.

Lenna

Lena_std

My Love in her attire doth show her wit,
It doth so well become her;
For every season she hath dressings fit,
For Winter, Spring, and Summer.
No beauty she doth miss
When all her robes are on:
But Beauty’s self she is
When all her robes are gone.

—- Anonymous Madrigal from Poetical Rhapsody (1602)
Lenna’s image has been used in all manner of image processing - from
compression to dithering. Few know that it came from a most unlikely
source: Novermber 1972 issue of Playboy. While I do appreciate
the full image for obvious reasons, I admit that when cropped to
512×512 pixels, such as in the image above, there is something quite
fascinating, enchanting and mystical about her. In my mind she is the
Mona Lisa for a digital age.
