Ancient Arcana and then some

By convention sweet, by convention bitter, by convention hot, by
convention cold, by convention colour: but in reality atoms and void.
Democritus (460 - 370 B.C.E.)
370 B.C.E. hmmmm…. only God knows what the descendants of the Great Australopithecus were up to in those days. Of the few things that survived the ravages of 16Th century western aggression only fragments remain of that dark and distant past… An enchanted time, when rainforests ran riot and concealed the strange beasts that fueled the imagination of a future makata. Painted men danced in the worship of spirits guarding the trees. History writes them off as savages by the standards of their contemporaries, nevertheless, they were the proud remnants of a great race: the original children of this earth.

God forgive me for this: some desperate @s*h*l* broke into our lab and stole my phone last friday (09/22/2006), just after I had my breakfast (8:00am — this early, yeah) .
I hope his/her lot improves. I hope he/she breaks out of the vicous cycle of hunger or else he/she has just gotten himself/herself deeper in s**t.
It will take some time to recover my network of contacts. C’est La vie. So be it.
There, I’ve said it. Now move on.
